The publication Collective Enthusiasm: The Process of Making Together, designed and compiled as a graduation project, deals with collectivity and experimental graphic design education. It began as a wish to bring people together, talk about graphic design and work on it together. It then developed into a more thorough research about self-initiated practices and collectivity, which in turn sparked a desire to launch a group on experimental graphic design and its education. The end result is this publication, in which I have compiled my research essay, a couple of interviews with members of existing practices/groups, as well as documentation of a couple of group meetings, initiated for this project. This publication can be a guide for other students or those interested in working with practices like this but don’t know where to start, what to read or who to talk to. In a sense, it’s like a workbook that can help you find and gather ideas and thoughts. There are dedicated areas in the book where you can reflect on what you have read, take notes and more, as well as answer questions that can help you develop your ideas and get more into the topic.
